Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vs. Honda HR-V

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Honda HR-V are both good cars in their right. Both new compact crossover SUVs boast rugged designs, versatile cabins, and technology to make driving more exciting. But these two vehicles are by no means made equal. From pricing to standard and available features to cargo capacity and capability, only one of these two new vehicles shines. At least, that's how we feel here at Fairfield Mitsubishi of Connecticut. Though we may be biased, we're going to lay the facts down for you so you can decide for yourself which of these two new cars is right for you. Without further ado, let's begin.

Honda HR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Overview

The Honda HR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport both seat five passengers and are available with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. They both are available in an array of colors and with a montage of packages and features. That's about where things stay the same, though. Other than the above mentioned features, this Honda and Mitsubishi are very different vehicles.

Outlander Sport vs. HR-V: Trims

Trims for the Honda model include LX, EX, and EX-L. In contrast, the Outlander Sport is available in LE, SEL, SE, and GT trims. Each trim corresponds to a vast array of added features and amenities for each car. However, only the Outlander Sport gets upgraded engine choices. The base Outlander Sport, or LE model, is equipped with a 148 horsepower four-cylinder engine, which is slightly more powerful than the 141-horsepower four-cylinder found across all HR-V trims. Aside from the Outlander Sport LE, all subsequent trims are equipped with a 168 horsepower engine. Thus, aside from those looking for a base model Outlander Sport or HR-V, most people will appreciate the extra power in the Outlander Sport.

Outlander Sport vs. HR-V: Size

The compact SUV market is competitive, especially when it comes to size. The Honda HR-V is 169" L x 70" W x 63" H; the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, in contrast, is 172" L x 71" W x 65" H. As you can see, the Outlander Sport clearly has the size advantage. Still small enough so as to be nimble and lithe, the Outlander Sport provides just enough extra space to give it the edge regarding capability and capacity.

Outlander Sport vs. HR-V: Capacity

The Honda HR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander sport fit five passengers. Thanks to the larger size of the Outlander Sport, however, it provides increased legroom, headroom, and and overall sense of roominess inside. The Outlander Sport's AWC (all wheel control) four wheel drive system makes driving the Outlander in any weather much easier. The Honda HR-V is equipped with it's own all-wheel-drive system. However, due to the Outlander Sport's ride height, it has a slight advantage over the Honda HR-V insofar as ground clearance is concerned.

Outlander Sport vs. HR-V: Technology

Technology. We can't live without it these days, can we? Most new cars in today's market are equipped with tons of new-car technology; from infotainment systems to driver assistance features. The Honda HR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport are no exception. The Honda HR-V comes standard with an infotainment system that supports Bluetooth functionality, but no matter which infotainment you choose in the HR-V you won't get Apple CarPlay™ or Android™ Auto integration. The Mistubishi Outlander Sport, however, doesn't offer a standard infotainment system. However, you can get one by getting the navigation system. If you do, you will not only enjoy a 6.1-inch infotainment system but also Apple CarPlay™ and Android™ Auto integration! Depending upon your needs and desires, the Outlander Sport may just be a better choice technology-wise.
