It's Time to Get Your Mitsubishi Ready for Cooler Weather

Now that summer's drawing to an end, it's a great time to get ready for New England's most glorious season of all: fall. How can you not love the crisp temperatures, changing leaves, and vivid blue skies? While you're pulling your sweaters out of storage, go ahead and take some time to attend to the necessary routine of preparing your Mitsubishi car or SUV for the change in temperatures.

We asked our service experts for their top tips on how to prepare for the colder temperatures that are coming:

  • Change your oil and make sure all fluids are filled. The last thing you want is to have old, contaminant-laden oil struggling to properly lubricate your engine. Changing your oil keeps the engine operating at peak efficiency, helping it to last longer. You also want to go ahead and make sure that your wiper fluid and antifreeze levels are topped off whenever you change your oil.
  • Check your tires.Make sure that each one has ample tread left, and make sure they're inflated to the recommended PSI level. With winter's inevitable arrival coming, you may find it worthwhile to go ahead and buy a set of snow tires and mount them on steel rims in preparation, and then switching to these tires when it's time.
  • Check the vehicle's battery, wiring and spark plugs. Cold temperatures can rapidly kill a failing battery, and nobody wants to wait for a jump start when the thermostat starts falling.
  • Check all vehicle lights. Make sure they're all working properly, including your hazards. The last thing you want is to be stranded on the side of the road late at night with no way to warn other drivers of your presence.
