Four Things to Know About the New Plug-In Hybrid SUV from Mitsubishi

Love the idea of a fuel-sipping plug-in hybrid, but afraid you'll have to sacrifice space and performance to get it? Then, here at Fairfield Mitsubishi, we have good news for you. Mitsubishi has just released their latest innovation and, not only does it offer plug-in hybrid technology, it also offers all the power and space you want from a three-row vehicle. The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is now available on our lots, and we can't wait to tell you more about it.

There's a lot to know about the 2018 Outlander PHEV (which stands for "plug-in hybrid electric vehicle"), so we'll jump right in. Here are the top four things we think our Connecticut customers should know when considering this new vehicle:

  1. Power and drivetrain. The 2018 Outlander PHEV may be a hybrid, but that doesn't mean it's another wimpy crossover. It offers a combined output rating of 197 horsepower from its hybrid powertrain, and it offers a unique, standard, all-wheel drive system, which is perfect for Connecticut winter road conditions. The power for all four wheels comes from an innovative gas-electric combination in the front, and a second electric motor for the back wheels. Its computer system chooses which wheels need power in any given situation, but, you can choose to put it in four-wheel drive only if you like, using a selectable drivetrain mode.
  2. Passenger room. Sure, many carmakers have plug-in hybrid options in their stables these days. But, not many offer a three-row vehicle that's perfect for families with multiple children. But, this Mitsubishi model does. It seats up to seven people in its spacious and roomy interior.
  3. Features. Like amenities and creature comforts on your new vehicle? The 2018 Outlander PHEV has them, and they're standard equipment. Things to look for include heated seats, power liftgate, and automatic windshield wipers, among other standard features.
  4. Electric range. Of course, one of the major reasons why people like plug-in hybrid vehicles, is that they can go many miles just on electric power alone. This Outlander PHEV is no different, with an all-electric driving range of around 22 miles, before the vehicle switches automatically to a more-traditional hybrid ride.
